WESTPORT, Conn. — The body of a woman retrieved from the Saugatuck River in Westport on Friday morning has been identified as 45-year-old Annette L. White, police announced Friday night.

White was a resident of Maine but had recently been living at a home in Westport, Capt. Vincent Penna said. The cause and manner of her death had not yet been determined by the state medical examiner, Penna said.

White's body was discovered at about 9:15 a.m. at the mouth of the river near Longshore Club Park by a duck hunter in a kayak, police said. Police and fire crews launched a boat into the water from the Saugatuck Harbor Yacht Club in order to retrieve the body.

White’s death was being investigated by the Westport Police Detective Bureau. Anyone who had contact with her is asked to call the police department at 203-341-6000.
