Steven Shulman, 21, of Ruane Street, met the victim in an Imperial Avenue parking lot Thursday and was standing near the victim’s car when he struck him in the face, giving him a bloody nose, police said.

The incident was reported Friday. Officers sought a warrant and found Schulman sleeping at the Gillespie Center, a men’s shelter on Imperial Avenue, police said.

He was charged with third-degree assault and violation of a protective order, police said. The second charge stems from an August incident, in which he struck the same victim in the leg, police said.

Schulman was held on $10,000 and was expected in court Oct. 24, police said.
