One of two officers working security at the festival spotted a visibly intoxicated man acting in a belligerent manner toward a food vendor at the event, the police report said. The officer told the man, later identified as Eric Rogers, that he would have to leave the festival due to his condition and behavior, police said.
Rogers refused to leave and became increasingly aggressive toward the officers, the report said. When officers tried to place Rogers under arrest, he struggled with them and began swinging a pair of handcuffs on one arm, injuring an officer, police said.
It took multiple officers and the use of a Taser to subdue Rogers, the report said.
Rogers was taken to Norwalk Hospital to be treated for minor injuries, police said. Once released, he was charged with assault on a police officer, a felony. He was also charged with breach of peace and interfering with an officer, misdemeanors.
Rogers was released after posting $10,000 bond and is due at Norwalk Superior Court on July 31.
The officer hurt during the incident sustained minor injuries, police said.
