Chief Foti Koskinas was driving by the International Wine Shop when he saw the girls, who were each holding a case of beer, near a car that had two more cases of beer in its open trunk, police said.

The girls were stopped a short distance away and admitted to buying the beer at International Wine Shop. Each was charged with possession of alcohol by a minor and their parents were notified.

Officers then responded to the liquor store and spoke to cashier Wen Chen, 35, of Sandy Hook, who admitted she sold the beer and didn’t ask for identification.

Chen was issued a summons charging her with sale of alcohol to a minor, police said.

She was released on a promise to appear in court on Oct. 19.
