Westport Police Charge Man With Sexually Assaulting Juvenile Girl

WESTPORT, Conn. — A 23-year-old Bridgeport man was charged with sexually assaulting a juvenile girl in Westport after he turned himself in to police on a warrant Wednesday, police said.

Joseph Carey is accused of choking and then sexually assaulting a girl who was visiting her family for Thanksgiving, police said. The incident occurred last Nov. 22, police said.

Carey was charged with first-degree sexual assault and risk of injury to a minor, both felonies. He was released after posting $100,000 bond and was scheduled to appear at Norwalk Superior Court on Nov. 1.

The incident was investigated by the Westport Police Detective Bureau Youth Division.
