Westport Police Charge 4 With Trying To Buy Alcohol With Fake Credit Cards

WESTPORT, Conn. — Four out-of-towners were busted on multiple charges of using fraudulent credit cards after they tried to purchase booze Friday evening in Westport, police said.

Police received the complaint at 7:20 p.m. from Castle Wine & Spirits at 1439 Post Road E. When confronted by store personnel, the four individuals had fled west on Post Road East in a red Mazda with Maryland license plates, police said.

The vehicle was stopped after it was spotted traveling west on Post Road East at the Sherwood Island Connector, police said.

All four suspects in the vehicle were positively identified from the Castle Wine & Spirits incident, police said. They were found to be in possession of a number of fraudulent credit cards as wells as several bottles of liquor, police said.

The four arrested were:

  • Monty Payne, 34, of Queens, N.Y., was charged with sixth-degree larceny, sixth-degree conspiracy to commit larceny, two counts of third-degree forgery, second-degree forgery, 22 counts of unlawful completion or reproduction of a credit card, criminal Impersonation, third-degree identity theft, and illegal use of a credit card. He was held on $100,000 bond
  • Ariana Burton, 22, of Hammond, La., was charged with: sixth-degree larceny, sixth-degree conspiracy to commit larceny, 22 counts of unlawful completion or reproduction of a credit card, and illegal use of a credit card. Burton was held on $25,000 bond.
  • Tamara Magee, 20, of Ponchatoula, La., was charged with sixth-degree larceny, sixth-degree conspiracy to commit larceny, 22 counts of unlawful completion or reproduction of a credit card, illegal use of a credit card, third-degree identity theft, second-degree forgery, and criminal impersonation. Magee was held on $25,000 bond.
  • Kathyling Pena, 34, of Brooklyn, N.Y., was charged with: sixth-degree larceny, sixth-degree conspiracy to commit larceny, 22 counts of unlawful completion or reproduction of a credit card, and illegal use of a credit card. Pena was held on $25,000 bond.
