WESTPORT, Conn. — Two men were arrested on shoplifting charges, accused of taking $338 worth of merchandise from the Jack Wills store in Westport on Jan. 21, police said.

Employees of the Main Street shop noticed the men walking through the store with several empty bags and told police they were evasive with store staff when asked whether they needed help.

Westport officers responded at 5 p.m. and found the men walking out of the store, police said. Officers searched their bags, which contained merchandise with the tags still attached, according to the police report.

Andre Fowler, 21, of Norwalk and Daniel Gatson, 18, of Ridgefield, N.J., were arrested and charged with sixth-degree larceny, conspiracy to commit sixth-degree larceny and possession of shoplifting device. Bond was set at $2,500 for each.

Fowler was scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 28. Gatson was to appear in court on Jan. 22
