At about 8:40 a.m., police received a call from a man reporting that a woman was going into labor inside a car on the Connector, police said in a statement. Desk Officer Donald Rice provided the man with medical instructions as police, firefighters and paramedics traveled to the scene.
Officer Robert Myer was the first emergency responder to arrive. With one minute, he reported that the mother had given birth, police said.
Myer provided medical treatment to mother and baby until Westport EMS arrived to take them to the hospital, police said. Mother, father and baby were said to be “safe and healthy.”
Because it was a medical call, no personal information could be shared, police said.
