WESTPORT, Conn. – A 53-year-old Westport man has been arrested for extradition to California to face grand larceny charges, Westport police said.

Mark Hayward was arrested at his Conte Place home Friday night after the Westport Police Department received a letter from police in Healdsburg, Calif., stating there was an active extraditable arrest warrant out for Hayward, the police report said.

The letter asked Westport police to pick Hayward up and send him to California to face charges, according to the report said.

Hayward was taken into custody without incident, police said. He was charged with being a fugitive from justice and given a March 7 court date.

Last year, Hayward was charged with defrauding a Fairfield resident out of $34,000 in a Yankee Stadium memorabilia scam, according to Fairfield police.
