The Westport Police Department received a complaint on Thursday, Feb. 15 regarding Westport resident Neil Bhatia, who had met his victim the previous day at a local restaurant for dinner, during which he was allegedly “loud with the victim and at one point struck the victim’s wrist,” police said.

According to police, upon returning to the victim’s residence, Bhatia entered the foyer of the home and pushed his victim to the ground in front of children and in violation of an active protective order. Police said that Bhatia’s victim also received harassing text messages over the two-day span, which contained derogatory statements and insulting language, also violating the Order of Protection.

Following the complaint, an arrest warrant was granted by a local judge. This week, Bhatia turned himself into police custody and was charged with criminal violation of a protective order and disorderly conduct, as well as injury to a child. Bhatia was released on $75,000 bond and is due back in court this week to answer the charges.
