Charged with second-degree burglary, criminal attempt and third-degree criminal mischief is James Myers, 25, of 285 Green Farms Road, Westport. His bond was set and he was scheduled to appear in court on Monday.

A resident of Woodland Drive was awakened by a loud noise Sunday afternoon, police said. Officers arrived and discovered a vehicle in the driveway that didn't belong to the property owner, police said.

They discovered that a dog door leading into the home had been broken off its hinges and that a golf club was protruding through the door, police said.

Officers discovered Myers in the trunk of the vehicle. Police said his speech was slurred, he was confused and had difficulty standing.
