Westport Man Charged With DUI After Reportedly Chasing Child

WESTPORT, Conn. – A 39-year-old Westport resident was charged with drunken driving Friday night after he allegedly got out of his car and chased a child, police said.

Brian Turano of Bradley Lane was spotted driving erratically in the area of The Mews where a child was walking with a parent. Turano got out of his car, spoke to the parent and then began chasing the child, according to the police report.

Turano’s breath smelled of alcohol when he spoke to officers, police said. He reportedly resisted arrest and kicked the door of the patrol car when being placed inside, the report said. He remained uncooperative and noncompliant during the booking process at police headquarters, police said.

Turano, charged with driving under the influence, was released after posting $9,000 bond and is due Aug. 9 in Norwalk Superior Court.
