WESTPORT, Conn. – A group of baby ducks that fell down a manhole in the parking lot behind Save the Children on Wilton Road were rescued by Westport firefighters Friday afternoon.

In all, nine ducklings fell into the manhole, said Jeremy Soulliere, a communications associate at Save the Children. Firefighter Joe Arnson descended into the manhole and successfully retrieved each one, said Soulliere.

Once they were brought back up to land, Soulliere said, the ducklings were reunited with their mother.
