WESTPORT, Conn. — A Stop & Shop employee was arrested Monday after he was caught on camera stealing money from a cash register, Westport police said.
Joshua Hopkins, 24, of Hawley Avenue, Bridgeport, was charged with sixth-degree larceny, police said.
Officers were called to the Post Road supermarket at 8 p.m. May 1. A store manager said Hopkins was seen on a camera taking a bill from the large side of a cashier drawer, dropping it on the floor and stepping on it before placing it in his pocket, police said.
He was also accused of stealing $200 on April 22 and 26, police said.
Hopkins was given a $500 bond and is scheduled to appear in Norwalk Superior Court on May 10.
