Westport 18-Year-Old Charged With Assault

WESTPORT, Conn. — An 18-year-old Westport man was arrested Monday and charged with assaulting a victim at a "gathering at a local residence" last month, Westport police said.

John Mendillo turned himself in to the Westport Police Department after learning that there was a warrant for his arrest, police said Tuesday.

The arrest warrant stemmed from an assault complaint from the victim in July, police said.

Mendillo was charged with third-degree assault. He posted $500 bond for a court date of Sept. 3, police said.
