WESTON, Conn. -- Weston Volunteer EMS has elected Michael Schlechter as its new chief, who will be taking up the post on April 1.

Schlechter has been with the EMS for many years, working his way up as Crew Chief and EMS Training Officer.

"We also want to thank our outgoing Chief JT Sollazzo for all he has done during his tenure as our chief," Weston Volunteer EMS said.

Sollazzo will be continuing as chief for the rest of the month and with work with Schlechter to help with the transition.
