WESTON, Conn. -- Tom Steinert-Threlkeld of Weston was killed Sunday in a cycling accident on Route 302 in Bethel after he was struck by two cars, the NewsTimes.com reported.

One of the two cars fled the scene, the report said.

An avid road cyclist, Steinert-Threlkeld was the editorial director of B2B Publishing at IBT Media.

In 2001, he also conceived and founded Baseline magazine, which examined how businesses achieved or failed to achieve their objectives through the use of information systems. Baseline won the Grand Neal Award, for an investigation that uncovered a series of deaths in Panama that related to a faulty piece of software developed by a St. Louis company.

He was also a former business columnist and technology reporter for The Dallas Morning News and the Fort Worth Star-Telegram in Texas.
