"The Fairfield Police K9 Unit would like to sincerely thank everyone who came out to Country Cow Deli to show their support," said a Facebook post."We were able to raise a significant amount of money for our unit."

The Country Cow Deli hosts this fundraiser twice a year.

Check out the video above to find out more about the K9 unit and to meet K9 Officer Jake.

The Fairfield Police K9 Unit was established in 2010, after receiving approval from the Chief of Police, First Selectman and Board of Police Commissioners. The K9 Unit does not replace a Police Officer, but serves as a valuable tool in combating and deterring crime. It is often the determining factor in conducting a search or achieving a peaceful arrest.

The K9 Unit may be used for:

  • Searching buildings
  • Tracking and searching for missing persons, suspects or evidence
  • Apprehending criminal suspects
  • Conducting narcotic raids and searches
  • Doing crowd control
