With their population on the rise across Connecticut, more and more bears are being spotted in the state, the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection said.

To deter bears from being in residential areas, residents should take down bird feeders, place garbage cans inside a garage or shed, and clean and store grills. Don't feed bears or approach them — not even to take a photo or video, DEEP said.
