Trumbull Police Arrest 5 In Stolen Car After Two Robberies, Pursuit

TRUMBULL, Conn. — Five people were taken into custody by Trumbull officers Saturday after a crime spree that began with the theft of a car in New Canaan and ended with a police pursuit and included two robberies in between.

The suspects stole the car in New Canaan, then traveled to Bridgeport, where they committed an armed street robbery on Orchard Street in Bridgeport, police said Sunday. A handgun was displayed during the mugging, police said. 

After that, one of the occupants of the stolen car walked past a parked car at the Westfield Trumbull Mall, where a female teen worker was sitting on her break, police said. 

The male suspect reached into the car and took a bag, police said. 

The stolen car then fled, nearly hitting the vehicle of James Leos, an off-duty Trumbull police officer who  called In the incident, police said. 

K9 Officer Gregory Lee located the stolen vehicle heading south on Main Street into Bridgeport, police said. The police pursuit continued through Bridgeport and back onto Route 25 northbound, police said. 

The pursuit ended on Route 25 in Trumbull, where all five occupants of the vehicle were taken in custody, police said.

Police did not release any details on the suspects or any charges involved.
