The arrest stems from an April 2, 2015, larceny complaint police received regarding a 2002 Maxum 2900SE boat valued about $30,000, said police. The complaint alleges the boat was stolen off the property of Village Marina, 40 Bridgeport Ave., Milford, according to police.
Police investigated and allege Christopher Fiore, 24, of Trumbull, who owned and operated Titan Marine Group at 40 Bridgeport Ave., Milford, at the time, was able to fraudulently take ownership of the boat through the Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles after alleging it had been abandoned on his marina's property, they said.
It is alleged that Fiore was able to remove the registered owner’s name after filing fraudulent paperwork with different state agencies, including the Department of Energy & Environmental Protection and Department of Motor Vehicles, which then allowed him to take possession of the vessel and then sell it to an unknown party, according to the report.
Fiore has been charged with first-degree larceny, second-degree forgery, first-degree conspiracy to commit larceny and second-degree conspiracy to commit forgery, said police.
He was taken into custody Aug. 18 and released on a $5,000 bond to appear in Milford Court on Sept. 13, according to police.
