Police responded to Fox Run Lane on Friday at 7:30 p.m. on a report of an armed robbery.
When officers arrived, they met with the 16-year-old, who said that he was out riding his dirt bike when he was confronted by two males who displayed a handgun and physically assaulted him, police said.
He told police that they punched him in the face, knocking him to the ground, and then began kicking him repeatedly as they tried to take his cellphone, according to police.
They then jumped into a Dodge Durango that was driven by a woman and left the scene, police said. The victim gave a description of the car and the three people, and police located it about four miles away on Main Street in Trumbull, police said.
Police identified the two males as Justin Zarzuela, 19, of Monroe and Michael Dawson, 20, of Bridgeport. The woman was identified as Kristi Alvenia Kemper, 20, of West Haven, police said.
Along with the three of them, police said they also found a juvenile sitting in a booster seat in the back seat. Police said the gun that was displayed turned out to be a bb gun that had been altered and wrapped in black tape to look like a real gun.
All three were taken into custody. Zarzuela was charged with first-degree robbery, criminal attempt at fifth-degree larceny, third-degree assault and fourth-degree mischief. He was held on $10,000 bond and appeared in court Monday.
Dawson was charged with first-degree robbery, criminal attempt at fifth-degree larceny, third-degree assault, first-degree threatening, alteration of a firearm, criminal possession of a firearm, criminal violation of a standing protective order, and brandishing a facsimile firearm. He was released on $20,000 bond and appeared in court on Monday.
Kemper was charged with weapons in a motor vehicle, risk of injury, criminal liability for acts of another for fifth-degree larceny and criminal liability for acts of another for first-degree robbery. She was released on a promise to appear in court on April 17.
