WESTPORT, Conn. – With 2012 coming to an end, The Westport Daily Voice is looking back at some of the year's biggest stories .
On Oct. 8, a Woodbridge man who police said fatally shot his brother in New Haven, committed suicide in his parents’ Rustic Lane home in Westport .
Westport police received a call at approximately 8:30 a.m. from the parents of Daniel Shwisha, who reported that he shot himself. Shwisha, 47, had an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head and was transported to Norwalk Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 9:13 a.m., police said.
Less than an hour before shooting himself, police said, Shwisha shot and killed his 45-year-old brother, Gordon, in the parking lot of Electrix, an industrial lighting wholesaler in New Haven. Gordon Shwisha, a Fairfield resident who also spelled his last name Swisha, owned Electrix, according to his obituary . He was found shot several times inside his Jeep, police said.
Both Gordon and Daniel were graduates of Staples High School.
