WESTPORT, Conn. – Three juveniles were arrested by Westport police early Monday and charged in a string of car break-ins, police said.
Shortly before 4 a.m., officers responded to Imperial Avenue on a report of multiple motor vehicle break-ins in the area, police said. It was reported that resident vehicles were found with doors left open and dome lights on, the arrest report said.
After officers determined the break-ins occurred recently, additional units were called in to help set up a perimeter, police said. Soon after, Officer Erin Shaw spotted three juveniles in the area of Compo Road South and Bridge Street, but the youths fled, the report said.
One of the minors was later located on Underhill Parkway and the other two were located on the platform of the Metro-North station in Saugatuck, police said.
Officers located stolen items linking the juveniles to vehicles broken into on Compo Road South, Imperial Avenue and Strathmore Lane, police said.
The minors were taken into custody. Due to their ages, their identities were not released.
