The trio, including Ja’David James, 18, Shaun Williams, 18, and a 17-year-old, all of Stamford, were caught around 8:3 p.m. Monday as they walked out of the store and into the cuffs of two waiting Stamford police officers, according to Sgt. Robert Shawinsky.

According to Shawinsky, police were called by Stop & Shop employees at the Ridgeway Shopping Center about the teens going up and down aisles stealing items.

A Stamford police officer responded and watched on the surveillance video as the teens put items in their cart. That officer contacted backup, and sure enough within minutes, the trio pushed the cart past checkout and continued out of the store where the other two officers were waiting, Shawinsky said.

Some of the items in the car included several packages of earbuds, frozen waffles, doughnuts, candy bars, frozen pizza, pies, ice cream, iced tea, spicy crab rolls, cornbread, bagels, and a dozen roses that came to $611.83.

All three were charged with larceny and conspiracy to commit larceny.
