Shortly before 3 a.m. on Monday morning, Connecticut State Police troopers were notified by officers at the Westport Police Department that they were in pursuit of a pair of vehicles, including an Acura that was wanted in connection to several local break-ins in town.

According to police in Westport, they ended their pursuit of the suspect in the area of exit 18 on I-95, as the vehicles continued north “at a high rate of speed.” The suspects were quickly located on highway cameras by members of the Connecticut State Department of Transportation in the area of exit 25, before stopping at exit 30 with all of the individuals into the second sedan, leaving the Acura behind in the process.

DOT personnel proceeded to track the vehicle - which was ultimately determined to be a stolen Hyundai - as troopers tracked the vehicle to exit 43 in West Haven, leading to a traffic stop in the area of exit 59 in Guilford, where four suspects were detained by state police.

The driver of the vehicle, Waterbury resident Jordan Butler, 18, and three minors were arrested at the scene. Butler was charged with illegal operation of a motor vehicle with a suspended license, reckless driving, engaging a police pursuit, risk of injury to a child, second-degree larceny and three counts of reckless endangerment. Butler is being held in lieu of $25,000 bond and is due in Bridgeport Superior Court on Tuesday to answer the charges. The three minors were processed and have been released into the custody of their parents.
