FAIRFIELD, Conn. ‒ A 10-year-old Bridgeport girl died Tuesday night after drowning in Lake Mohegan in Fairfield, according to the Connecticut Post.

The girl was swimming with her family in the Cascades section on the north side of the lake when she went under, the Connecticut Post reported. The girl was under water for about 45 minutes before emergency responders were able to pull her out of the water. She was then rushed to Bridgeport Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

The girl is the second swimmer to drown in Lake Mohegan in the past year. Frank Mazzabufi, 39, of Shelton, died after falling under the water last August.
