Christopher Allen Hankins was arrested for second-degree robbery and third-degree larceny on Wednesday, June 22. He was held on $25,000 bond, the police department noted.
During the robbery, a male entered the bank and passed a note to the teller demanding money. He didn't display a weapon, the police department said. The teller gave the suspect cash -- and a dye pack, which exploded outside the bank as the suspect fled.
The department arrested Hankins after a month-long investigation by its Detective Bureau. Lead investigator Detective Bernie Kelley developed him as a suspect after ID-ing the type of car used and a partial plate from local video, and finding that Hankins had visited the bank prior to the robbery.
When the police got a warrant and searched his apartment, on Huntington Turnpike, in Bridgeport, officers found evidence that "definitively linked Hankins to the bank robbery," the department says.
