At about 3:15 a.m., state police troopers from Troop I-Bethany responded to the Route 15 northbound Orange rest area between Exits 55 and 56.

Upon arrival, Alltown store employees told troopers that a white male suspect had entered the store and demanded the money from the cash register. The suspect took an undisclosed amount of cash before fleeing in a vehicle, state police said. A handgun was implied but not displayed, police said.

No injuries were reported.

Troopers searched the area but did not locate the suspect. Detectives from the Central District Major Crime responded and took control of the investigation.

The suspect was described as a white man in his 30s with blonde or light brown hair and a goatee. He was wearing an orange baseball hat and a gray raincoat/jacket.

Anyone with information regarding the robbery or the suspect is asked to contact State Police Detectives at 203-393-4200 or text TIP711 with any information to 274637. All calls will remain confidential.
