Staples Teacher Charged With Reporting False Crime

Updated: WESTPORT, Conn. –— The two misdemeanor charges of against a Staples High School science teacher of allegedly making a false police report have been dismissed, police said.

On June 26, police said that a teacher reported his car had been broken into at the high school. When officers arrived, the driver’'s side window of the car was broken, according to the police report. Police said he told officers that a ring was stolen from the glove box, as well as golf clubs, a GPS and a backpack containing two Apple computers and an iPad.

After an investigation, police said the Milford resident admitted the items were not stolen. He turned himself in on Aug. 3 on a warrant charging him with second-degree false incident report and second-degree false statement. He was released after posting $10,000 bond.
