Julia Armijo, 20, of Weston and Renny Isaac, 23, of Ridgefield were charged with second-degree burglary, conspiracy to commit second-degree burglary, third-degree criminal trespass, criminal attempt to commit sixth-degree larceny, and second-degree breach of peace. Each was held on $1,000 bond and will appear in court Sept. 10.

Police received a call from a couple at about 2 a.m. Sunday, who reported that two people had trespassed on their boat, police said.

They were sleeping on the boat with their 15-year-old and 13-year-old daughters, a 10-year-old child and a 7-year-old child when the mom was awakened by a light on the deck, police said. She looked out the window and saw a younger woman using her cellphone as a flashlight and rummaging through belongings, police said.

The husband went out onto the deck and saw a younger man standing near the stern, police said. When he began to walk toward the man, the husband tripped over the woman, who was sitting on the deck, police said.

He attempted to subdue the duo but they were able to get away, run to the parking lot of the marina, get into a car and drive away, according to police.

The couple told police that the intruders had been rummaging through a backpack that contained the man's wallet, along with a large sum of cash. The wallet had fallen onto the deck during the husband's attempts to restrain the two, and nothing else appeared to have been taken, police said.

When officers arrived, they found a KFC/Taco Bell plastic bag with food, beverages and a receipt with Armijo's name on it, according to police reports.

The food had been purchased about a half-hour before the incident, police said. After learning her identity, officers asked Weston police to make contact at Armijo's home, police said. Eventually, Armijo contacted police and went to headquarters with Isaac.

The two told officers that they had gone to Taco Bell and then wanted to go to the beach, police said.

When they entered the marina, they said they found the boat and got onto the deck to take selfies, police said. They said they had never been on a boat before, just wanted to look around and didn't intend to steal anything, according to police.

Armijo told police that she had gone through the backpack to point out to the owners how careless they were with their property, according to police reports.

The two were arrested. Police said that there have been a number of boat burglaries in the marina over the past few months, including seven during July and another that is believed to have occurred sometime between 11:30 p.m. Saturday and 10 p.m. Sunday.
