Donald Fries, 57, of Chestnut Lane, was driving on the Post Road East at about 11 p.m., when he struck the back of the moped, which was stopped at a red light, police said. The rider sustained minor injuries, police said.

Field sobriety tests indicated Fries was under the influence, and a breathalyzer test given at police headquarters read .204, more than twice the legal limit, police said.

Fries was charged with operating under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs and following too closely, police said

He was held on $500 bond with a court date of Aug. 22.
