Officers were dispatched to a Marion Road home on Sept. 19 on a report of a larceny. A resident told police that a ring, valued at approximately $1,000, had been stolen from her master bedroom.

The only people with access to the bedroom during the time frame of the theft were the cleaning woman and her assistant, identified as 39-year-old Margarita Mendez Gutierres of Bridgeport, according to police.

Police obtained a search warrant for Gutierres's home and executed it on Sept. 22. The stolen ring was found inside her home, police said. A warrant was issued for her arrest.

Gutierres turned herself in to police on Friday, Oct. 20 and was charged with fifth-degree larceny. She was released on a $5,000 bond and will appear in court on Oct. 30.
