WESTPORT, Conn. -- A Norwalk woman faces drunken driving charges stemming from a motor vehicle accident in Westport Dec. 21, according to the Westport Police Department.
Officers responded that evening at approximately 11:30 p.m. to the intersection of Newtown Turnpike and Wilton Road, where they determined the alleged at fault driver was Amparo Montoya, 68, police said.
Officers found Montoya to be disoriented, had trouble balancing herself, and they smelled a strong odor of alcoholic beverage on her breath, according to police.
Officers completed a search warrant for Montoya's blood to determine the alcohol level, police said.
The state toxicology laboratory determined Montoya’s blood alcohol level was .16, which is double the legal limit, according to police.
Amparo turned herself in on an active warrant Friday, Feb. 12, said police.
She was charged with operating under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol and following too close, police said.
She is due in Norwalk court Feb. 18, according to police.
