Norwalk Sex Offender Pleads Guilty To Reentering U.S. After Being Deported

Franklin Omar Rodriguez, 36, a citizen of Honduras last residing in Norwalk, pleaded guilty Friday to one count of reentry of a removed alien, according to John H. Durham, United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut.

According to court documents, in December 2005 Rodriguez was convicted in Carroll County, Georgia of statutory rape and was sentenced to time served and three years probation. In February 2009, he was convicted of failing to register as a sex offender and two counts of false identification documents, and was sentenced to 10 years in prison, suspended after two years, followed by eight years of probation.

In February 2011, Rodriguez was deported from the U.S. to Honduras. Durham said that Rodriguez illegally reentered the U.S. and was arrested on Jan. 13 in Stamford for the sale of illegal drugs, possession of narcotics with intent to sell, and resisting arrest.

Rodriguez faces a maximum term of 20 years in prison. He is scheduled to be sentenced on March 6, 2018.
