The complainant told police that on Wednesday when he went to pay the rent for his Monroe Street apartment, 46-year-old Mustafa Muhammad answered the door, according to the Hour. The victim knew Muhammad as "Moose," and although he was not the normal person the victim paid rent to, Muhammad took the money and said he would make sure it got to the right person, according to the Hour. He gave the victim a receipt for the $600 rent payment, police told the Hour.

Later the victim received a phone call from the person he normally pays rent to, asking why he had not paid his rent yet, according to the Hour. The victim told the person that he had given the money to Muhammad, but it had apparently not made its way to the right person, the Hour reported.

When the victim went to confront Muhammad at his home, Muhammad pulled him inside, pointed a gun at him and demanded money, police told the Hour. The victim then went to police headquarters to report the robbery, and they were able to identify him, police told the Hour. They tracked down where he was, and found him hiding behind a refrigerator, the Hour reported. He also gave police a false name, according to the Hour.

Muhammad was arrested and charged with first-degree robbery, fourth-degree larceny and interfering with an officer. He was given a $50,000 bond.
