Man Charged With Stealing Credit Cards, Identities From Westport Cars

WESTPORT, Conn. -- A Norwalk man was arrested on multiple charges by Westport police in connection with a number of overnight residential car burglaries in January, police said.

On Tuesday, April 14, Westport and Norwalk police officers served an arrest warrant on Daniel Lewis, 27, at his home in Norwalk.

Lewis was wanted by the Westport Police Department on an outstanding warrant for multiple charges, including burglary, larceny, identity theft and credit card theft. 

Investigating detectives were able to track credit card activity from the cards stolen from the cars and link Lewis to the crimes, police said.

Lewis was charged with third-degree burglary, credit card theft, four counts of illegal use of a credit card, first-degree identity theft, sixth-degree larceny, third-degree conspiracy to commit burglary, conspiracy to commit credit card theft, four counts of conspiracy to commit illegal use of a credit card, first degree conspiracy to commit identity theft, and sixth-degree conspiracy to commit larceny.

He was released after posting $35,000 bond and issued a court date of April 23 in Norwalk Superior Court.
