WESTPORT, Conn. – A 40-year-old Norwalk man was arrested and charged with drunken driving last week after he almost drove his car off the road in Westport, police said.
Matthew Longcore was driving south on Saugatuck Avenue when an officer saw Longcore’s vehicle veer sharply in the right lane, almost hitting the curb, the police report said.
Longcore was stopped after he turned onto the I-95 on ramp without using the turn signal, police said. In speaking with Longcore, the officer smelled alcohol on his breath, police said. Longcore failed field sobriety tests and the results of his breath test were .102 and .091.
Longcore was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, a misdemeanor. He was released after posting a $500 bond and is due in Norwalk Superior Court on Friday.
