Norwalk Man Arrested In Westport, Again

WESTPORT, Conn. – A 29-year-old Norwalk man charged with several felonies in Westport back in July was arrested again Wednesday and charged with identity theft, police said.

Eric Christian is accused of opening a fraudulent account at Westport’s First County Bank in April, police said. A complaint was filed by the bank on April 19 and an investigation by the Westport Police Detective Bureau identified Christian as the suspect.

“Christian has an extensive history of bank fraud and criminal-impersonation related crimes in Connecticut,” Capt. Sam Arciola said in a press release.

Christian was picked up Wednesday night by Greenwich police on a warrant and turned over to Westport police. He was charged with third-degree identity theft, a felony, and criminal impersonation, a misdemeanor.

Unable to post a $500,000 bond, Christian was scheduled for arraignment at Norwalk Superior Court Thursday morning.

On July 18, Christian led Westport police on a two-hour manhunt after he allegedly tried to withdraw money from a flagged bank account. In that incident, he was charged with criminal attempt at third-degree larceny, conspiracy to commit third-degree larceny, seven counts of third-degree identity theft and trafficking personal information — all felonies.
