Officers had to smash open the front door of the 58 Wilton Ave., home on Nov. 18 and discovered the 86-year-old woman on the floor, police said. They had been called by a caseworker to make a welfare check on the woman after the caseworker had repeatedly tried to make contact with the woman was unable to do so, police said.

Officers were forced to smash the door in after they had repeatedly knocked on doors and windows without getting a response, police said.

Winley arrived on the scene and ignored police commands to stay outside and tried to gain entrance, police said. He was swearing, belligerent and charged with breach of peace and interfering at the time, police said.

Police arrested him at the Wilton Avenue residence at about 12:45 p.m. Tuesday.

Police obtained the woman’s medical records and obtained an arrest warrant for the man, police said.

The woman was discharged from the hospital and is currently residing in a nursing home, police said. She was doing well as of a December check, police said.
