Newtown Man Killed In Motorcycle Crash In Sandy Hook

NEWTOWN, Conn. — A 37-year-old Newtown man was killed in a motorcycle crash late Tuesday afternoon in Sandy Hook, police said.

Officers responded at 5:26 p.m. April 18, to a one-vehicle accident that occurred at 195 Riverside Road, police said. 

The operator and only rider on the bike was identified as Martin Amidon of Glover Lane in Newtown, police said.

Amidon was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics as a result of injuries sustained in the accident, police said.

The vehicle involved was a red and black 2004 Buell XB-125 "street-style" motorcycle, police said. 

The Newtown Police Department is asking any witnesses that may have seen the accident or the vehicle operating in the area before the accident to contact Officer Bart Lorancaitis at 203-426-5841. 

The fatal crash remains under investigation, and police said additional details will be released later.
