Peter Dunn, 27, of Garden City, N.Y., was charged with second-degree breach of peace and interfering with an officer. He was released on $500 bond and will appear in court July 10.

Police were called to Darien Social just before 2 a.m. Sunday on a report of an altercation. Officers spoke to employees, who said that Dunn had come in and started problems with some of the other patrons, police said.

He was asked to leave, but returned a short time later and became belligerent with the employees who had kicked him out, yelling at them and saying he wanted his keys, according to police reports. He shoved an employee, and was taken to the ground in an attempt to control him, according to police. The police were called and Dunn ran, police said.

When officers arrived, they found Dunn nearby and spoke to him. Police said he appeared to be under the influence of alcohol. He wouldn't say where he lived, and became aggressive with the officers, according to police reports.

He stepped toward an officer in an aggressive manner, and police said the officer pushed him back out of concern for his own safety. He stepped toward the officer again, and was pushed back again, police said. He then tried to run and was chased and taken to the ground and subdued, according to police reports.

Dunn struggled with the officer on the ground with his keys in his hand, but was eventually placed in handcuffs and arrested, police said. He remained belligerent as he was taken to headquarters, police said.

Police said Dunn had an abrasion and two lacerations on his right forearm, and a small cut on his right elbow. It was uncertain when those injuries were inflicted, police said. Dunn indicated to officers that he may have been in a fight with patrons outside Darien Social before his encounter with the bar staff. He refused medical treatment.
