WESTON, Conn. -- Weston has hired Edwin Henion as the new Chief of the Weston Police Department, replacing former Chief John Troxell, who retired in February, according to the Weston Forum.

Henion is a lieutenant colonel in the Connecticut State Police, where he has served for 26 years, according to the Weston Forum. He has most recently served in the Office of Professional Standards and Support Services, and was previously the commanding officer of Troop B in North Canaan, the Weston Forum reported.

He has also served as commanding officer of the Labor Relations Unit, served in the Motor Vehicle Fraud Task Force, and served as chief of staff to the lieutenant colonel and commissioner, according to the Weston Forum. He has a bachelor's degree in criminal justice from Western Connecticut State University and a juris doctor from Western Connecticut State University.

Henion will be sworn in as the new chief on Monday, Sept. 18 at 3 p.m. at Weston Town Hall.
