WESTPORT, Conn. A 32-year-old Norwalk woman turned herself in to Westport police Saturday on a warrant charging her with driving under the influence of narcotics with her child in the car, police said.
The warrant stems from a July 15 incident in which Maritza Delvalle crashed her car into two mailboxes near Post Road West, police said. The front and rear passenger-side tires were torn off, police said. Delvalles 2-year-old daughter was in the back seat, police said, and Delvalle appeared to be intoxicated.
Delvalle was hosiptalized after the accident and blood tests showed narcotics in her system, according to the police report.
In addition to driving under the influence, a misdemeanor, Delvalle was charged with risk of injury to a child, a felony. She was also charged with evading responsibility and failure to drive right. Delvalle was released after posting a $10,000 bond and is due in court Aug. 29.
