Greenwich Police have identified a 70-year-old man who was hit and killed while crossing the street on Milbank Avenue, according to the Greenwich Police.

Robert Bono, of Greenwich, who lived at the Agnes Morley public housing complex, was struck and killed around 6 p.m., Wednesday, said Lt. John Slusarz.

Slusarz said a man from out of the area, driving a Jeep hit Bono, but stopped and offered aid while he waited for emergency responders.

The accident occurred near a pedestrian crosswalk on Milbank Avenue between Elm Street and Havemeyer Place, near the housing unit where Bono lived, according to police.

After being hit, Bono slid under a parked car. Greenwich firefighters were able to extricate him and trasnport him to Greenwich Hospital where he later died, said Slusarz.

The collision is under investigation by the Greenwich Police Department Traffic Section. Anyone with any information is asked to call Sgt. Patrick Smyth at 203-622-8015.
