WESTPORT, Conn. — A Bridgeport man who said he was stabbed in the leg on Burying Hill Beach in May turned himself in to police headquarters Friday and was charged with making up the tale, police said.
On May 28 at about 1 p.m., Westport officers were called to St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Bridgeport on a report of a stabbing victim. Anthony Frank, 49, of Park Avenue, claimed he had been stabbed in the leg by a stranger that morning on the beach, police said.
A detective interviewed Frank and he consented to a search of his vehicle, police said. The officer found a knife with what appeared to be blood on it and determined Frank’s story was inconsistent, police said.
Frank turned himself in on a warrant Friday and was charged with second-degree falsely reporting an incident, police said. He is scheduled to appear in court in Norwalk on Sept. 12.
