WESTPORT, Conn. A 40-year-old Westport man was arrested on a drunken driving charge after a hit-and-run was reported Friday at Minute Man Cleaners, 600 Riverside Ave., police said.
Patrick McCarthy, of Compo Road South, was accused of hitting a parked car and then leaving his car at the scene, the police report states. An officer found McCarthy a short distance away and smelled alcohol on his breath, police said.
McCarthy failed field sobriety tests but refused a breath test. In addition to driving under the influence, he was charged with evading responsibility, failure to drive in proper lane and failure to carry a license. He was unable to post a $500 bond and was arraigned in Norwalk Superior Court.
