Man Charged With DUI, Fleeing Westport Accident Scene

WESTPORT, Conn. – A 30-year-old Bridgeport man was arrested in Westport last Friday on a drunken-driving charge after he was pulled over on suspicion of leaving the scene of an accident, police said.

Daniel Riley was stopped on Sherwood Island Connector after he drove away from an accident he was involved in on Hales Road, police said. When approached by an officer, Riley appeared intoxicated, police said. As a result, he was asked to perform roadside sobriety tests, police said.

Upon failing the tests, Riley was taken into custody. In addition to driving under the influence of alcohol/drugs, Riley was charged with evading responsibility, failure to drive in the proper lane, speeding and failure to have insurance.

He was released after posting $1,000 bond and is scheduled to appear at Norwalk Superior Court on Monday.
