Man Charged With Check Fraud In Westport

WESTPORT, Conn. – A Bridgeport man was arrested on a warrant from Westport stemming from an incident in which he allegedly stole and forged a check, police said.

Ramon Deras, 40, is accused of stealing a check from an acquaintance in March and forging it in the amount of $1,000, the police report said. He was picked up by Bridgeport police Friday morning and turned over to Westport, police said.

Deras was charged with first-degree forgery, a felony, and fourth-degree larceny, a misdemeanor. He was released after posting a $1,000 bond and is due in court Aug. 7.
