On Sunday, Sept. 27, Westport officers responded to the Post Road East restaurant on a report that it received a counterfeit $100 bill from a patron, police said.
The suspect had attempted to pay a cab fare with a $100 bill, but the driver was unable to make change, police said.
The cab driver took the suspect to McDonald's, where he purchased an item and received change, police said.
Officers went to the location where the taxi cab driver had dropped off the suspect, police said.
When officers encountered the suspect, they discovered that he was in possession of an additional seven counterfeit bills, police said. Some of the bills had the same serial numbers printed on them, police said.
Reginald Boyd of Stamford was arrested and charged with eight counts of first-degree forgery and one count of sixth-degree larceny. Boyd was released after posting $2,500 bond and issued a court date of Oct. 7 at Norwalk Court.
